I caught a book reading by Jonathan Safran Foer (one of my favorite authors of all time) in San Francisco on Tuesday, which was really, really awesome. ^_^ A very eloquent speaker, but the most impressive thing was his sense of humor--very natural and very funny. Haha, I can sort of see why he could be on the list of "50 most loathsome New Yorkers" two years in a row, not because he's loathsome at all but honestly, it's hard not to be jealous of him--young, interesting, superbly imaginative, successful, married to Nicole Krauss (another author I very much love) and on top of that, modest and polite! I got my two books signed by him and left with Nicole Krauss' first book "Man Walks into A Room" (which, although not quite as enjoyable as her second book "A History of Love," was a good read--poetic and philosophically meditative on the nature of memory.)

Speaking of books, I have an itch to purchase more things to read. I ordered "The Time Traveler's Wife" a few days ago from Amazon, but I'm also contemplating purchasing "The Sea" by John Banville and "The Year of Magical Thinking" by Joan Didion. Has anybody read those and can recommend/de-recommend? Feel free to throw out other book suggestions too. =)

I've also been following the story of Kaavya Viswanathan, the Harvard student accused of plagiarism - www.thefirstpost.co.uk/index.p… and all I can say is: I'm glad her book got recalled. Really sucks to be her right now, but what was she thinking?!

Okay, finally I thought I'd write a poem for DA's "write a poem a day" thing but I've only managed to get the first day's done. ^^;;; Reading people's submissions has been quite fun though! Oh well, here it is, a Rictameter.

What if,
Whisper quiet--
A boy, a girl, a line
The willow reeds sway so softly
And the wind blows a smile onto her face
This is how the story will go
A girl, a boy, some wish
Not made in vain
What if?

The weather here is nice this week (finally! After months of rain!), so I'll be enjoying some good times outdoors. Have a lovely weekend to you all!

That's a cool poem. I like how it's shaped, too.
