the temptations of snow whiteby ~joulee

mirror, mirror on the wall
who in this land is fairest of all?

it's snow white with beauty so still
but oh! such longing for the things that kill

Something different for a change. ^^ I want to do a gothic fairy tale series using mostly black and white and a few drops of other colors, but since I'm so excellent (sarcasm) at keeping up with drawing things in a series, no promises there.

I've never been a fan of Disney's snow white. She seems just a bit too cloying to me. In the Grimm version, Snow White is also much worse at resisting temptation, as she was accosted not one but THREE times by the queen to buy bodice lace, a comb, and an apple.

Very well done!

(But give her a break in the original German tale. She's so easily fooled by the three signs of sexually mature womanhood because her foster-dads the dwarves overprotect her and want to keep her a little girl forever and her mother is trying to kill her before Snow White can become a woman as the queen's way to stave off old age, based off an old belief at the time that when your children become adults it is time for you to die. The prince is the very person to treat her as a woman instead of a little girl, asking her to marry him and accepting whatever decision she makes.)

wow! part of the reason for them only doing one 'temptation' in the Disney version may be time for making it a dramatic battle scene near the end. And time for the price and Snow White to 'meet' and the songs. 'I'm just speculating. You did a great job with this.
