I have a Pita-ten artbook which i just loooooove. I'm normally not so fond of super-cute-girls anime, but Koge Donbo's art is just too much for me to resist. >D

I wanted to do similar to her style as a tribute, so here it is. Completely drawn and inked in my sketchbook (arghh... inking = SuchAPain. O_O Took way longer than anything else.) Originally I wanted to just paintbucket some colors in digitally and give it a monochrome-y feel, but then it seemed too flat, so I added some slight shadows and highlights in. I didn't spend very much time on the coloring at all, but hopefully it still conveys a bit of that monochrome flavor.

Here is how I would characterize Koge Donbo's style:

1) huuuuuuuuge eyes O.O it's actually very hard for me to draw eyes this big...
2) flowers. Always with the flowers in the hair.
3) fluffy dresses
4) often lots of lace
5) highlights on the hair have a very distinct style where the shine effect is blurred on one side but very sharp on the other... I'm not really sure how this is done but I have a few guesses.
6) frequent use of textures/patterns in the clothing or accessories... this is cool. I want to try it sometime ^_^
7) did i mention eyes so big they could suck you in?

I may do some more stuff like this, just for fun. It's quite different from my normal style (although closer to my SD style). What do you think? ^^
